We also offers two packages at an additional cost.

1.- PACK BUNDLE.

The Pack Bundle is a set of assets that you can download and import into third-party programs. It contains:

  • Colorized point cloud (.XYZ)

  • Reflected ceiling plan image

    • (.JPG) Multiple files if multiple floors

    • (.PDF) All floors in one file

  • High-resolution floor plan image. This are not schematic floor plans. This is similar to the ceiling plan image but of the floor.

    • (.JPG) Multiple files if multiple floors

    • (.PDF) All floors in one file

  • 3D mesh file (.OBJ) including the necessary texture map image files (.JPG)

Includes:

OBJ File -  Bundle

  • The product combines 3D depth data with 2D visual data to create a textured 3D mesh that is the OBJ file. We sample the OBJ file to create the Dollhouse View in 3D Showcase.

  • An OBJ file is not necessary for most users. 3D developers and VR enthusiasts can use the OBJ file to kickstart their projects with a 3D model of a real-world place.

  • Our OBJ files have a scale of 1 unit = 1 meter. You may need to update the scale in your 3D software or rescale the model after loading.

  • Could be opened in programs such as MeshLab and Maya.

  • Point Clouds - Bundle

  • For architecture, engineering, and construction customers.

  • Fully automatic point cloud registration of all sweeps (scan positions).

  • Colorized based on the 360º panorama imagery and accurate to within 1% of reality.

  • Could be opened in Recap, Revit, or AutoCAD and jump-start your as-built designs.

High-Resolution Floor Plan Image -  Bundle

  • For architecture, engineering, and construction customers.

  • Get a quick top-down view of the job site and everything inside it.

  • Use in AutoCAD as a tracing element.

  • Could be opened in 3ds Max, Maya, or other 3D software.

  • The floor plan is just a unique, orthogonal view of the 3D mesh. Make your own views/slices of the 3D mesh by manipulating the OBJ file yourself.

Reflected Ceiling Plan Image -  Bundle

  • For architecture, engineering, and construction customers.

  • Same as the high resolution floor plans, but a quick vertical view of everything on the ceiling.

  • See ventilation shafts, wiring, plumbing, insulation, and more.

The Pack Bundle is for architects, engineers, and construction professionals who want to import these assets into 3D third-party programs* (such as 3ds Max, ReCap, Revit, or AutoCAD), perform additional work, and then offer as part of a commercial package to their clients.

For example:

  • Architects and engineers can use the point cloud to quickly create an as-built model and jump-start their designs.

  • Construction professionals can use the ceiling plan and floor plan images for documentation/verification and building turnover packages, or use the point cloud as a part of the QA/QC process.

For assistance on how to import the files, convert the files, or use the files within the third party program, or to check if these are the right files for your use-case, please contact the specific 3D third-party program's support team.

2.- POINT CLOUDS PACK E57

The Matterport E57 file contains a high-density point cloud for all scan locations in the Matterport space. It contains point cloud, pano images, and metadata from each scan location. The file format, .E57, is a compact, vendor-neutral point cloud format that’s defined by the ASTM E2807 standard. This format is widely adopted by most 3D design applications, so you can use your Matterport digital twin in a wide range of applications, including but not limited to:

  • Autodesk Recap Pro

  • Leica Register 360

  • Leica Cyclone

  • Faro Scene

  • Autodesk Revit

  • Autodesk Navisworks

  • Autodesk

  • AutoCAD

  • Trimble Sketchup

  • Trimble Forensics

  • Trimble Business Center

  • TopCon Magnet

  • Cintoo Cloud

Who Is the E57 File For?

The E57 file is for architects, MEP engineers, general contractors, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, BIM managers, VDC managers, and other construction professionals who need a higher density point cloud than the MatterPak .XYZ point cloud file provides to complete complex workflows.

You can import the E57 3D point cloud data into 3D and architecture, engineering, and design applications, including easily importing point clouds to Autodesk Revit® using the Matterport for Revit® Plug-in.

What Is a Point Cloud?

A point cloud is a 3D description of spatial data consisting of geometric points in space, as measured by capture devices. These points typically represent the 3D shape of a physical object. Each point position has its set of Cartesian coordinates (X, Y, Z). Point clouds are most commonly used to capture the existing (as-built) conditions of a structure. Point cloud data is commonly used to extract analysis from these structures, and to import into 3D design and BIM software workflows.

How is E57 different from a MatterPak?

E57 is a single file containing a colorized point cloud, as opposed to the MatterPak bundle which has several components (colorized point cloud, reflected ceiling plan, high-resolution floor plan, and 2D mesh file). The MatterPak is designed to provide decimated point cloud information from the capture device to create a light-weight solution that can be accessible from anywhere, including a phone or tablet.

E57 is a higher-density point cloud that processes a much larger dataset coming from the capture device which results in more than 10x the detail derived from a MatterPak.

  • For architecture, engineering, and construction customers.

  • High-density point cloud for all scan locations in the 3D space.

  • Approximately 20x the detail derived from a Pack Bundle.

  • Vendor-neutral point cloud format that's widely adopted by most 3D design applications.
